Position Summary
The Certified Sleep Technician operates under the guidance of the clinical director or designated supervisor to deliver thorough assessments and treatments for sleep-related disorders. Responsibilities may include conducting polysomnography, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, and offering patient education. This role encompasses the duties of a Polysomnographic Staff Technician and may involve supervising other personnel.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver age-appropriate care to patients across all demographics, ensuring a holistic approach to their well-being.
2. Utilize critical thinking and sound judgment in all care-related decisions, adjusting patient care based on ongoing evaluations.
3. Execute a variety of procedures within the scope of practice, adhering to established standards, policies, and regulatory guidelines. This includes routine and complex recordings such as CPAP, Bi-level, split-night studies, and more.
4. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while following the proper chain of command when addressing issues.
5. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure a seamless continuum of patient care.
6. Initiate emergency interventions as necessary and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Stay updated in the field by participating in continuing education and achieving required CEUs.
7. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Skills: Proficient in problem-solving, measurement, and data interpretation. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with colleagues and patients. Emotional resilience and the ability to manage stress in a healthcare environment are also important.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 months in Polysomnography required.
• License: Registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist may be obtained through various accredited programs.
• Certification: BCLS certification required at the time of hire.
