Within the Tax Services Group (TSG), the State & Local Tax team assists clients in thriving by remaining informed on the continuously evolving, intricate state and local tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the management of client relationships and their requirements
• Assist with state and local tax advisory projects related to tax strategy, due diligence, nexus and taxability assessments, apportionment and revenue sourcing, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, credits and incentives, and various other multistate initiatives
• Conduct research and technical analysis of multistate income/franchise, sales, use, gross receipts, and other state or local tax matters
• Analyze taxpayer information and identify opportunities for clients and prospects
• Stay informed on changes in state and local tax legislation
• Engage in business development activities as necessary
• Foster internal relationships within the firm and contribute to enhancing external branding
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required; accounting emphasis preferred
• Advanced degrees such as a Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLM are advantageous
• CPA or licensed attorney preferred. If not a CPA or licensed attorney, must meet educational criteria to obtain CPA or attorney license in the state of employment upon hire
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Moss Adams will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred
• Previous experience conducting tax research and providing technical guidance on state and local tax matters preferred
• Experience within state and local government revenue departments is a plus
• Familiarity with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and research abilities
• Capable of working effectively both collaboratively and independently
• Able to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and concurrent projects
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Willingness to travel as required, approximately 20%

While this is the typical range of pay for the position, actual pay may vary based on internal equity, knowledge, experience, skillset, and geographic location among other factors.
