Job Title: Commercial Front Load Driver

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Commercial Front Load Driver to join our team at Waste Connections in Portland, Oregon.

About the Role:

This is a Monday-to-Friday position with a start time of 3:00 AM and a variable end time, typically between 9-11 hours per day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a Front Load Recycle Truck on designated routes to collect commercial recycling.
  • Comprehend route tablet instructions and service each customer as assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load containers at designated facilities.
  • Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components for pre- and post-trip inspections.

Working Conditions:

This role requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds. The work environment involves some exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, and requires following basic safety precautions.

The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
