Job Description


We are seeking an outstanding licensed architect to fill a role as an Industrial Design Specialist in our Portland, Oregon office. The ideal candidate will enjoy designing industrial workspaces, including small to large renovations varying from individual laboratories to facility expansions.


The Role involves planning, coordinating, and administering project designs from initial programming stages through completion of construction support services. We seek candidates who share our passion for design and have experience with industrial capital projects.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Plan, prepare, and present work, including proposals, narratives, presentations, specifications, sketches, and drawings during all phases of architectural assignments.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers, peers, and clients to achieve mutually beneficial relationships and complete quality project outcomes.
  • Actively support the company's pursuit of new project opportunities.
  • Coordinate closely with various engineering disciplines within the organization to optimize and improve work, staff sharing by participating in multi-discipline strategy sessions.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, design concepts, and progress updates to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry trends to ensure project compliance.
  • Encourage collaboration with team members for design integrity, accuracy, clarity, and quality.
  • Identify, interpret, and apply relevant codes and standards to industrial-, laboratory-, office-, and hazardous-occupancies.
  • Conduct research and coordinate design with engineers and specialty consultants.
  • Define program requirements and establish design parameters based on client intentions.
  • Plan and present proposals, design workshops, and deliverable reviews with stakeholders.
  • Produce design and construction documents with thoughtful architectural solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you should possess:



  • Bachelors or Masters in Architecture and an active Architectural license and NCARB Certificate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting IBC/IFC, NFPA, OSHA for client and AHJ presentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture.
  • Ability to pass Client badging and screening processes.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Proficient with MSOffice, Revit, AutoCAD, and manual sketches.
