- Operates advanced ventilatory equipment in both critical and non-critical environments, assisting physicians as necessary.
- Administers prescribed medication treatments and therapies, adhering to established protocols.
- Maintains and troubleshoots respiratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
- Educates patients on therapy techniques, self-care, and disease management.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient education and care.
- Adapts to various service areas under physician guidance, maintaining high performance standards.
- Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills, ensuring accurate patient handoffs.
- Promotes safety by identifying potential risks and implementing corrective measures.
- Mentors new staff and students, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Licensure and Certification:
- Must possess a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice.
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is mandatory.
Education:
Completion of an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree is required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary; however, a commitment to learning and professional development is essential.
Skills and Abilities- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making related to patient care.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
