Starting Salary: $122,849

Role Purpose:

The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer is tasked with the design, planning, execution, administration, maintenance, and support of ESL's critical server, storage, desktop, and systems infrastructure. This position collaborates with various IT teams, including Network Engineering and Information Security, to uphold the highest standards of performance, availability, and security across the network and systems infrastructure. The engineer will assess hardware and software vendor products and recommend acquisitions that align with ESL's architectural standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the management of ESL's physical and virtual server, storage, desktop, and system infrastructure across various locations.

• Design infrastructure solutions that are reliable, cost-effective, scalable, and secure, adhering to ESL's standards.

• Plan and implement upgrades and routine maintenance to meet high availability and performance metrics.

• Lead the selection, deployment, and support of hardware and software solutions.

• Ensure all systems are maintained effectively to achieve agreed-upon uptime.

• Act as a change agent by participating in and educating others on systems changes and ESL's Change Management methodologies.

• Continuously monitor ESL's systems, respond to alerts, and communicate issues and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.

• Manage monitoring and capacity planning to ensure both short-term and long-term system viability.

• Provide 24/7 support, which includes being on-call to ensure accessibility outside of regular business hours.

• Collaborate with the Telecommunications team to support all telecom-related systems.

• Assist in enhancing the end-user desktop experience in relation to the systems infrastructure.

• Work with management to plan and oversee the annual budget for Network Services and other business units as required.

• Offer technical consultation to business units on departmental and corporate projects, participating as necessary.

• Handle installation, configuration, and support of new infrastructure application releases and updates.

• Conduct environment refreshes and support development initiatives.

• Establish and maintain a disaster recovery environment, ensuring comprehensive documentation.

• Ensure all critical systems utilize proper data replication and backup processes, with tested recovery procedures in place.

• Engage in business continuity and disaster recovery testing initiatives.

• Perform additional duties as needed to support ESL's mission and vision.

• Play an active role in planning, implementing, and supporting system-related activities.

• Support the Network Engineer and Telecom Manager in managing ESL's infrastructure.

• Coordinate vendor activities essential for supporting ESL's network infrastructure.

• Foster strong relationships with all internal clients and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service delivery.

• Maintain a high level of professionalism and technical expertise in all project consultations and interactions.

• Ensure third-party vendors comply with service level agreements and seek remediation when necessary.

• Manage relationships with third-party vendors engaged in servicing or supporting ESL's systems infrastructure.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or 4 additional years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of IT experience in architecting, engineering, and supporting large virtual server infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows systems.
  • Proficient in virtual server technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate unexpected business needs.
  • Familiarity with multiple hardware and software platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to focus on task completion in a busy environment.
  • Exceptional planning and coordination abilities.

  • Experience with hyper-converged technologies.
