The YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water Fitness Instructor to lead water fitness classes that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for designing and leading water fitness classes that cater to diverse age groups and fitness levels. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to create a safe and engaging environment, and demonstrate a strong understanding of water-based exercise principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and lead water fitness classes that meet the needs of diverse age groups and fitness levels.
  • Develop and implement effective choreography, cuing, and music selection to create a fun and engaging workout experience.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for participants by following YMCA aquatic policies and procedures.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training events to stay updated on the latest safety information and research in the fitness industry.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to ensure music selection meets the required standards.
  • Cover classes when unable to teach, ensuring that classes are not cancelled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.
Requirements:
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant certification (with proper level of CPR and first-aid).
  • Current YMCA Water Fitness Instructor certification.
Work Environment/Physical/Mental Demands:

Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Physical and mental pre-requisites and requirements for the certification courses recommended as Qualifications.
