Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to inpatients and outpatients at our hospital. This role involves collaborating with patients, family members, peers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient respiratory needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Implement and evaluate respiratory therapy interventions, including mechanical ventilation and breathing therapy
  • Conduct patient assessments and perform postural drainage, percussion, and bronchial hygiene techniques
  • Carry out blood gas puncture and analysis, and maintain blood gas analyzer equipment
  • Respond to cardiac arrest and Rapid Response situations, and perform CPR
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current and valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • BLS/CPR certification
  • NRP and ACLS certifications strongly recommended

Work Environment

The Respiratory Therapist will work in a hospital setting, transporting and lifting heavy medical gas cylinders as needed. May be exposed to chemicals necessary for required tasks.
