POSITION SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, the Medical Lab Scientist is accountable for independently conducting and reporting all laboratory test analyses in accordance with physician directives and established laboratory protocols. Compliance with FDA, CAP, AABB, OSHA, CUA, and JCAHO regulations is essential to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

The tests performed are critical for the diagnosis and management of various health conditions, involving specimen processing, execution of tests, and maintenance of accurate test results. Some procedures may be intricate and necessitate professional judgment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or a related scientific discipline. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist from ASCP or an equivalent body is required. For those certified post-2004, current ASCP Certification Maintenance is mandatory.

New graduates may have a six-month period post-hire to obtain certification, while all other candidates must provide verification of certification prior to employment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
