Project Estimator Job Description

Savage Brothers is a leading industry contractor specializing in industrial paints and coatings projects. Our team is committed to delivering superior service that exceeds our clients' expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive project assessments, including review of project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documentation.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for painting and coating projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other project requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales, production, and project management, to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Analyze project risks, identify potential challenges, and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes.
  • Maintain project documentation and control processes, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded and accessible to stakeholders.
  • Support project managers in tracking project progress, evaluating budget performance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders to gather pricing information and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new materials or technologies that may impact project estimations.
  • Provide administrative support, such as preparing reports, managing project-related correspondence, and maintaining project files.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, engineering, business administration) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven 3+ years experience as a project estimator or similar role, preferably in the construction, painting, or coatings industry.
  • Ability to mesh with our exciting and highly energetic team.
  • Ability to visit sites to complete takes offs and site assessments.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in estimations and documentation.
  • Proficiency in project estimation software and tools, with experience in cost estimating software being a plus.
  • Solid understanding of construction and painting materials, techniques, and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive for document management including Google sheets etc.
