Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced baker to join our prepared foods team at Keweenaw Cooperative Inc. As a key member of our production kitchen, you will be responsible for training, replenishment ordering, and supporting prepared foods operations to keep our bakery cases full.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide outstanding internal and external service, fulfill daily cleaning tasks, and maintain a positive shopping experience for customers.
  • Purchasing & Pricing: Work with managers to ensure purchasing for the bakery, follow trends, and use data to ensure optimal product mix and pricing.
  • Merchandising & Promotions: Oversee baked goods, make replenishment purchases, and maintain attractive displays and accurate sales tags and sale signs.
  • Department Operations: Work with all levels of Co-op staff, plan and coordinate bakery schedules, and take training as designed for the position.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a bakery.
  • Firm grasp of margin, pricing, and inventory control.
  • Able to work at least one weekend day/week, early morning, late evening, or overnight shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent related experience and/or training.
  • Training or leadership experience related to grocery or retail environments or cooperatives.
  • Experience with natural products purchasing and merchandising.
Working Conditions
  • Frequently performs work in a retail grocery store.
  • Works in temperature extremes.
  • Utilizes hand trucks, pallet jacks, grocery carts, box cutters, electronic ordering devices, kitchen tools, and office machines.
Salary

$15/hour
