The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a crucial role in delivering speech and language services to patients. The responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients' communication abilities, oral-motor skills, cognitive functions, memory, problem-solving capabilities, hearing, and speech fluency.
- Evaluating the home environment when necessary and determining equipment needs related to speech and language functionality.
- Identifying speech impairments and developing a coordinated care plan with the physician to address various communication disorders.
- Implementing speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
- Educating patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members about their roles in the therapy process.
- Recommending appropriate communication devices and aids as needed.
- Suggesting hearing evaluations by an audiologist when necessary.
- Preparing and submitting clinical progress notes based on goal achievement.
- Instructing patients, families, and healthcare personnel on treatment protocols.
- Performing additional duties as required to ensure effective delivery of speech-language pathology services.
- Identifying needs for additional services and making appropriate referrals.
- Adhering to professional standards and maintaining clinical competency in speech-language pathology.
- Completing other assigned tasks as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology.
- Degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
- Current licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist in the relevant state.
- Preferred: One year of professional experience in Speech Language Pathology.
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
- Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
