Nutritional Services Department Manager Job Summary

This is a full-time position responsible for supervising and coordinating activities and operations within the Nutritional Services Department. The successful candidate will assist with determining goals and implementing policies and procedures to meet the goals of the department while providing highly responsible and complex staff assistance to assigned Nutritional Services Manager and Nutritionists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate employees
  • Assist with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities
  • Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned operations, services, and activities
  • Maintain and follow up on records, including inventory, training, diet changes, special events, and staff accuracy and quality control
  • Supervise quality control programs and assist in training of assigned staff
  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of the physical facility and equipment
  • Lead and participate in regular meetings and respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner
  • Assist with the administration of assigned program budget and provide staff assistance to Manager
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and manage staff per Zoo policy and procedures
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in food service operations
  • Minimum of 5 years of managing staff
  • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles and practices of Nutritional Services operations, principles and practices of work area safety and sanitation, and operational characteristics of food prep and handling equipment
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinate employees, select, supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate employees, and exhibit strong organizational and time management skills
