Development Services Administrative Specialist

This position is responsible for providing specialized administrative support for the operations of an assigned Borough division. The Development Services Administrative Specialist is responsible for keeping track of team members and their needs. The person filling this position will be the backup to the clerk of boards/commissions that are the responsibility of the Planning and Land Use Department.
Key Responsibilities- Provides administrative support for the Development Services division, including mailings, answering phones, and assisting at the front counter.
- Coordinates meetings, prepares agendas, and takes minutes.
- Assists with budgeting, purchasing, and time/record keeping.
- Composes reports, drafts legislation, and manages web pages and social media.
- Provides customer service, responds to inquiries, and resolves issues.
- Tracks and verifies time records, and prepares payroll information.
- Maintains records, files, and other information sources related to work.
- Provides liaison with supervisor's contacts within and outside the organization.
- Assists with hiring, processing paperwork, and checking references.
- Coordinates travel schedules and reservations for meetings and training.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and specialized training in the field of work.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field.
- Experience related to the work performed by the division is preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska.
- Possession of or ability to obtain Notary Public Commission from the State of Alaska within six months if required for assigned area.
