Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This is a 32-hour per week position, working a variety of shifts including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protective services to people and property, responding to routine and emergency calls for service.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the department, including performing daily operational functions as directed by the Security Supervisor or Dispatcher.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including responding to emergency calls, investigating incidents, and taking necessary actions to mitigate risk.
  • Utilize strong customer service skills and community policing philosophies to develop and build strong relationships with the hospital community.
  • Conduct initial investigations into all reports of suspicious activity, persons, hazards, or risk, and take necessary steps to mitigate risk to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Perform access control functions, including ensuring that all employees, vendors, and contractors are in possession of an authorized form of identification and that it is clearly visible.
  • Perform Dispatch and/or Console duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager, including coordinating Security activities, acting as liaison to other McLean departments and external agencies, and reflecting the friendly, courteous, helpful, and professional attitude of the department at all times.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required; a strong educational background in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of security or related experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certification in the following programs: CPR/AED/First Aid, CPI De-Escalation Training, and International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification (within first 90 days).
