We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Inspection Team Lead to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Bridge Inspection Practice, you will be responsible for leading bridge inspection projects and teams in the Southeast Region.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and perform bridge inspections in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and AASHTO Manual for Condition Evaluation of Bridges.
- Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
- Perform engineering calculations on various bridge repair designs, bridge load ratings, and construction inspections.
- Mentor staff and provide guidance on the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures to ensure work is completed in a correct manner.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in bridge design and/or bridge inspection.
- NHI Course Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certificate.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Physically capable of performing field work, including climbing ladders (40ft or less) and in close quarters, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
- Ability to assertively direct others in the field, such as subcontractors and others, to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- PE License in SC and/or NC.
- Familiarity with NCDOT WIGINS Software or SCDOT BrM (AASHTOWare Bridge Management).
- Additional FHWA/NHI Training Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges, Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges for Bridge Inspectors.
- Interest in Programming and/or experience with databases or data analytics.
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation software.
- Interest in UAS Drone inspections.
- Comfortable working at Heights (40ft+) and interest in working on Ropes (obtaining SPRAT Certification).
- Familiarity with or certifications in various NDE techniques.
- Experience with Inspecting Complex Bridges.
