Job Title: LPN Charge Nurse

At Sunnyside Presbyterian Home, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate LPN Charge Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading our team of nursing assistants.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and complete medication passes within regulatory timeframes.
  • Document and sign all medication administration records daily.
  • Supervise and train nursing assistants to ensure resident-centered care.
  • Complete and/or supervise all treatments using standard nursing protocols.
  • Record nursing observations and chart, date, and sign after each entry.
  • Transcribe, analyze, comprehend, and implement doctors' orders accurately.
  • Complete dietary and maintenance forms accurately as required.
  • Update daily flow sheets for C.N.A.'s to ensure all services rendered are in agreement with the care plan.
  • Report all significant resident issues to the Unit Manager.
  • Respond to and implement fire plans for Healthcare Center residents according to procedure.
  • Maintain knowledge of safe operation of medical equipment and use proper techniques when working with equipment.
  • Practice universal precautions and ensure C.N.A.'s always use universal precautions.
  • Complete admissions, transfers, deaths, and discharges while maintaining residents' safety and security.
  • Prepare change of shift reports and effectively communicate with oncoming staff to ensure continuity of care for residents.
  • Make rounds on each shift to account for all residents, assess the building for safety, and provide medical attention as needed.
  • Handle emergencies and/or stressful situations with professionalism.
  • Draw labs as ordered and report them to the physician in a timely manner.
  • Assess complaints/issues with residents and notify the physician as needed.
  • Make responsible parties aware of changes with resident care as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and orderly work areas.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Attend all in-services, training, and meetings as required.
  • Meet all training requirements as required by Federal and State Regulations, company, and community policies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and punctuality.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Supervisory skills required; experience preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred or ability to learn.
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its integrity.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in stressful environments and deal with medical emergency situations.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.
