Food Processing Management Professional

LHH Recruitment Solutions has a direct hire opportunity for a Processing Supervisor to join our client's team in Seabrook, NJ. This role will leverage your experience in food and beverage processing and supervision of hourly processing employees, as well as scheduling, assigning workloads, and identifying quality issues. You will play a critical role in resolving safety concerns, inspections, training, and fostering a proactive safety-first culture.
As a Processing Supervisor, you will work collaboratively with other department supervisors and upper management to deliver successful accountability measures and key objectives, including continuous improvements and trainings, as well as PSM – Process Safety Management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate employee and machinery schedules, including maintenance, training, budget, and cost management.
- Understand and stay up-to-date on blending processes, including ingredients, weights, mixing, process flow, and quality checks.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with processing associates regarding production schedules, issues, and challenges.
- Oversee ingredient and raw material inventory.
- Provide supervision of staff throughout their assigned shift, ensuring good manufacturing practices, quality, and safety standards.
- Assure daily documentation and analysis of issues related to batching, ingredients, waste, safety maintenance, and staff issues.
- Ensure all processing materials, equipment, and people resources are available to maintain production schedules on time and in full.
- Ensure all staff are current and consistently trained in all standards and expectations, including temporary employees and/or vendors.
- Work with management to ensure safe work practices and implement them for effective safety and safety training.
- Exude interpersonal skills and work well with everyone at all levels of staffing.
- Follow, enforce, and maintain standards for food safety and food quality, adhering to OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations.
- Adhere to and promote a culture of food safety and maintain quality.
- Be willing and able to taste test products as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in production or engineering-related field.
- GMP certifications highly preferred.
- Minimum 4-5 years in a production supervisor role with a minimum of 5 direct reports to manage in a food or beverage manufacturing setting.
- Proven planning, administrative, and leadership/supervisory skills.
- MS Office and time-keeping measures/approvals experience.
- Proven knowledge and implementation of continuous improvement techniques such as 5S, Lean, TPM.
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP).
- Thorough understanding of OSHA/FDA/USDA/EPA requirements in a food and/or beverage manufacturing environment.
- Sufficient physical ability to work in a manufacturing production environment.
- Ability to speak and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Able to have the use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment as needed/required.
- Exposure to seasonally wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in seasonal temperature.
- Ability to squat, kneel, and must have the ability to reach above and at shoulder height.
- Must have the ability to wear a mask if needed and/or dust mask.
- Must be able to maintain knowledge of and exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
- Must have the ability to use close and distance vision including color and peripheral vision with or without vision correction means.
- Must be able to visually and auditorily detect obstacles and potential dangers in a production environment setting.
This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The compensation package includes a salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 DOE, as well as benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401k+match, and PTO.
