Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II to join our team at the State of Nebraska. As a key member of our rehabilitation services team, you will play a vital role in empowering blind and visually impaired individuals to achieve their full potential and live independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' needs and develop personalized plans to promote employment, economic self-sufficiency, and independence.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients in developing skills and strategies to overcome barriers to employment and independent living.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement instructional programs to teach alternative skills of blindness, including Braille, cane travel, and assistive technology.
  • Coordinate vocational training and other services to support clients in achieving their employment and independent living goals.
  • Monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of services provided, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social science, behavioral science, social work, counseling/guidance, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human development, education, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a related field, or one year of experience with a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to maintain the Certified Vision Rehabilitation Consultant (CVRCB) certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using assistive technology.
