About the Role

The Office of Social Equity and Innovation, Youth Programs division is seeking a dedicated Case Manager to join our team and provide essential support to juveniles on the Pretrial Release Program.

In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping young people navigate challenges and succeed in their communities. You'll conduct comprehensive assessments, provide direct support, collaborate with professionals, and respond to youth behaviors and compliance on supervision and focusing on community safety.

You'll also maintain documentation, represent youth in court hearings, and advocate for their best interests.

This position is part of the Second Judicial District Youth Detention Continuum Program, formerly called the Senate Bill 94 Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to gather detailed social histories, analyze data, and develop tailored action plans to address the unique needs of each juvenile.
  • Provide direct support, guidance, counseling, and referrals to community resources to support youth's progress and well-being.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, judges, and other agencies to ensure effective case management.
  • Respond to youth behaviors and compliance on supervision and focusing on community safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of case notes, data, and reports.
  • Represent youth in court hearings and advocate for their best interests.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with commonly used risk/need assessment and treatment assessment tools.
  • Understanding of effective interventions and evidence-based practices for working with youth.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detailed-oriented and working knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to problem-solve in stressful situations.
  • Ability to multi-task in stressful situations.
  • Prior experience engaging/mentoring high-risk youth.
  • Prior work experience with law enforcement.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in performing case management, including completing comprehensive needs assessments and developing and implementing case plans.
  • Or one (1) year of experience in case work and counseling in areas such as Diversion, Probation, alcohol and drug abuse, community-based treatment case management, or a closely related area.
