Job Overview

HVJ Associates is a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, seeking an experienced Geotechnical Project Manager to lead our projects and ensure client satisfaction.

Salary:

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing projects, meeting financial goals and quality standards;
  • Forecasting project beginning, schedule and profitability;
  • Developing and implementing actions needed to achieve or exceed project goals;
  • Preparing proposals, including detailed cost estimates;
  • Providing exceptional client satisfaction;
  • Guiding and mentoring junior staff members;
  • Assisting with business development;
  • Tracking project expenses to ensure actual work is performed within budget;
  • Invoicing projects to receive payment within 45 days of service completion;
  • Reviewing all reports prior to submission to clients for completeness and accuracy;
  • Performing geotechnical/construction materials engineering as required to meet client needs;
  • Identifying and pursuing new opportunities to grow geotechnical engineering services;
  • Performing/reviewing geotechnical engineering analyses.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) with at least 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with at least 10 years of experience;
  • A valid Professional Engineer license in the State of Texas;
  • Experience working on TxDOT, City, and Municipality projects is a plus;
  • Familiarity with Central and South-Central Texas geology and soil conditions is also desirable;
  • Excellent written and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems;
  • Self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail are essential for this role;
  • The ability to work effectively with supporting staff members, managers, and clients as part of a team;
  • A valid Texas driver's license with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses and valid right to work documents;
  • Experience with common geotechnical programs.
