We are seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team at Idaho Materials & Construction, a CRH Company. As a Construction Laborer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of various construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting highway, utility, and grade crews with manual tasks, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist highway crews with preparing ground surfaces for road building, removing debris, and operating ground compactors.
- Support utility crews with hand shoveling, trenching, and installing pipes and utility lines.
- Work with grade crews to perform groundwork, cut concrete with saws, and remove and replace sewer/manhole/sump castings and covers.
- Operate equipment such as skidsteers, front-end loaders, and backhoes as needed.
- Perform other laborer duties as required, including cleaning equipment, maintaining tools, and assisting with flagging and traffic control.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondences and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding. You will be required to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and be exposed to noise, dust, and other hazards. You must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials, and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
