The Role

We are seeking a Data Specialist to join our team, responsible for ensuring that our teachers, leaders, and parents have the information they need to help our students get to and through college. This role will oversee school-based enrollment, general data management, and synthesis & analysis. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure an excellent data experience for students, teachers, and staff.
  • Partner with the Middle School Data Manager to employ all aspects of the PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS), including accurate student record flow and data management.
  • Plan and execute Quarterly student report cards, including printing physical reports and creating digital report card templates.
  • Accurately manage student rosters across educational platforms, including NWEA, STEP, DESSA, ST Math, iXL, and other classroom curriculum tools.
  • Conduct staff Professional Development on reporting technologies and research new training opportunities for effective data utilization.
  • Publish a monthly data dashboard for the school leadership team and assist in report analysis.
  • Submit school compliance reports and coordinate recurring data imports/exports.
  • Support the school-based Operations Team as needed, including leading the front desk, providing event assistance, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with the Meeting Street Schools Chief of Technology on sharing data practices with stakeholders and other Data Specialists.
Requirements
  • Genuine passion for solving issues and researching sustainable, scalable solutions.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet products, including Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
  • Natural aptitude for learning new technologies and becoming a product expert.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Flexible in various situations and having a sense of urgency when needed.
  • Works as a team player and collaborates in a professional manner with peers.
  • Seeks and incorporates feedback to continually improve practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with K-12 schools or the education industry.
  • Experience managing databases, especially Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Basic IT certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Google, Microsoft, or Apple.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs, kneel, sit, or stand for long periods of time.

Meeting Street Schools offers a competitive salary range starting at $55,000, commensurate with experience.
