Your OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Laboratory Planning Project Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of planning and design of academic and corporate science facilities. You will be responsible for developing client relationships, leading business development activities, and continuing our growth and success in our S&T market sector and in diversifying our client and project base.
Key Responsibilities- Play a key leadership role and be an essential part of a project team working on all phases of design projects from Programming and Schematic Design through Construction Administration in the Academic and Corporate Science & Technology sector.
- Sustain and grow revenue within the S&T market, helping to achieve top line growth for the business sector, and working collaboratively with the project team to achieve key operational performance metrics.
- Play the role of a seller-doer generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.
- Lead laboratory programming projects and portions of projects.
- Develop Lab Planning content for internal and external presentations, articles, and blog posts.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives to help advance our Science & Technology project design, operations, and business development.
- Lead project teams on large-scale projects responsible for technical execution and discipline coordination on Lab areas of the project.
- Work with teams across multiple Stantec offices.
- Exceptionally strong understanding of the Science and Technology market within California.
- Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
- Demonstrated technical skills on major projects.
- Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base (such experience within a consulting organization in California is considered a strong asset).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting-services provider.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with industry trends and industry leaders in the Science and Technology sector and California.
- Demonstrated capability to lead teams working on projects documented in Revit or AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated experience in working on LEED certified S&T projects or S&T projects with other sustainability goals/credentials. Having a LEED credential is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design.
Licensed Architect with 15 years of experience working with multi-discipline teams with a minimum of ten (10) years related Lab Planning experience.

About the RoleThis is a full-time position that requires 20% travel. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Science and Technology market within California and experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated technical skills on major projects, strong business development skills, and exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
The role requires a licensed Architect with 15 years of experience working with multi-discipline teams with a minimum of ten (10) years related Lab Planning experience.
The compensation for this role is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible.
