Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior VMware Infrastructure Architect to enhance our Engineering team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, development, integration, and upkeep of our virtualized private cloud infrastructure, leveraging VMware and associated technologies. This role encompasses a diverse range of systems, including servers, workstations, storage solutions, networks, and bespoke hardware, forming the backbone of our enterprise hybrid-cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize industry best practices to assist in the design and implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for various projects.
  • Develop and sustain virtualized environments using VMware tailored to project requirements.
  • Create scripts to automate testing, documentation, and maintenance of the virtualized systems.
  • Support the development of build/test and integration processes, focusing on performance and scalability.
  • Provide assistance to engineers regarding RHEL-based tools, ensuring adherence to established standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active DOD-Secret security clearance is mandatory prior to employment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems administration, particularly RHEL 6.0+.
  • Experience in VMware provisioning and management.
  • Strong scripting capabilities (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Bash).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in troubleshooting intricate systems involving multiple servers and network configurations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of on-premise infrastructure design and data center systems.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or SaltStack.
  • Experience with vSphere PowerCLI for managing virtual environments.
  • Understanding of DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
  • Experience in monitoring and optimizing virtualized environments.
  • Background in SAN/NAS design and implementation.
  • Security Plus certification within 90 days of employment.
