Position Overview:
The Director of Nursing (DON) holds the critical responsibility for overseeing nursing services within the healthcare facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assume full accountability for nursing operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
- Develop and implement policies that align with current healthcare practices and facility goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth and high standards of care.

Essential Functions:
- Design and maintain essential programs within the healthcare setting, including trauma and swing bed programs.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to formulate operational strategies that meet organizational objectives.
- Conduct regular assessments of nursing practices and regulatory compliance across all shifts.

Staff Management:
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of nursing personnel.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet patient care needs while maintaining budgetary constraints.
- Facilitate in-service education programs to enhance staff competencies.

Quality Assurance:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees to enhance patient outcomes.
- Review and evaluate patient referrals to ensure appropriate care delivery.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organizations to improve service quality.

Qualifications:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor's degree is required, while a Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of five years in a managerial role, with at least two years in a critical access hospital setting.
- Licensure: Must possess a current and active Registered Nurse license in Wyoming.
