Position Overview:

The Certified Pharmacy Specialist plays a crucial role in the management of prescription orders, the preparation of intravenous solutions, and the provision of essential supplies to support patients receiving intravenous homecare. All responsibilities are executed under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and compound sterile parenteral and enteral pharmaceutical products, including chemotherapeutic agents, under the supervision of a pharmacist, showcasing a commitment to high standards.
  • Complete and manage delivery documentation efficiently.
  • Engage in all patient care meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Document, monitor, and report results for pharmaceutical quality assurance assessments.
  • Assist in maintaining the pharmacy environment in compliance with policies and procedures to achieve outstanding audit outcomes.
  • Stay informed and adhere to the regulations governing pharmacy operations.
  • Support pharmacists in inventory management, including record-keeping and ordering processes.
  • Organize and shelve incoming pharmaceutical inventory appropriately.
  • Effectively manage assigned tasks to optimize productivity.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and safeguard personal information at all times.
  • Assist pharmacists with various duties as needed, in accordance with professional standards and applicable laws.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions as required by management.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by on-duty pharmacists and supervisors.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and pharmacy management software.
  • Understanding of fundamental drug terminology, pharmaceutical assessment, pharmacology, and pharmacy law.
  • Demonstrated excellence in aseptic techniques consistently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with all departments in the home infusion center.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance, particularly with parenteral products.
  • Exceptional customer service capabilities.
  • Knowledge of infusion pharmacy practices.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from a nationally recognized program.
  • Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Florida Board of Pharmacy or as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Florida Board of Nursing.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in pharmacy preparations for parenteral and enteral applications, including intravenous antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents.
  • Proven proficiency in aseptic techniques.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
