Position Overview:

The Certified Pharmacy Specialist plays a crucial role in the management of prescription orders, preparation of intravenous solutions, and provision of essential supplies for patients receiving intravenous homecare. This position operates under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and compound sterile parenteral and enteral pharmaceutical products, including chemotherapeutic agents, under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality.
  • Complete and initiate delivery documentation accurately.
  • Engage in patient care meetings and contribute to discussions regarding patient treatment plans.
  • Document and monitor results related to pharmaceutical quality assurance testing.
  • Support the maintenance of the pharmacy facility in compliance with established policies and procedures to achieve outstanding audit outcomes.
  • Understand and comply with all regulations governing pharmacy operations.
  • Assist pharmacists with inventory management, including record-keeping and ordering processes.
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively to enhance productivity.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and safeguard personal information at all times.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists in all assigned duties, adhering to standard practices and relevant laws.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions as required by management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the on-duty pharmacists and supervisors.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from a nationally recognized program.
  • Active Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) license with the Florida Board of Pharmacy or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the Florida Board of Nursing.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in pharmacy preparations for parenteral/enteral, including intravenous antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic technique.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite and pharmacy software applications.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, evaluation, pharmacology, and relevant laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance, particularly with parenteral products.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
