Job Title: Travel Sterile Processing Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Travel Sterile Processing Operations Manager to join our team at Healthcare Staffing Plus. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring that all procedures are followed, and that the highest level of quality and safety is maintained.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in day-to-day activities of the Sterile Processing Department, supervising and coordinating the activities of Sterile Processing Supervisors and overseeing the activities of technicians.
  • Establish and maintain standards of work performance and methods of operation throughout the department.
  • Inspect work activities to ensure workers are following prescribed procedures to meet hospital standards.
  • Ensure that personnel in preparing and handling sterile items employ aseptic techniques.
  • Compile periodic reports as necessary.
  • Ensure all Safety and Infection Control policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • In conjunction with the SPD Educator, assess staff competency, actively promote staff development.
  • Work with the Director to meet target budget, actively seeking additional operational improvements and revenue enhancements.
  • Work proactively with Operating Room personnel for the quick resolution of potential issues. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions.
  • Effective management of collective bargaining issues.
  • Help the Director assess performance issues and appropriately work under the direction of Labor Relations to resolve issues.
  • Oversee the staff scheduling process, with emphasis upon attendance issues, scheduling conflicts and appropriate ratio of staff to workload necessary for the overall work and prioritization of functions.
  • Participate with the Manager in planning for the future needs of the specific shift as a whole including but not limited to Personnel Needs, Program Development, Intradepartmental Relationships and Instrument/Equipment Needs.
  • Coordinate resources for problem identification and resolution ensuring the smooth operation of Sterile Processing.
  • Ensure that existing policies and procedures of Sterile Processing are understood and adhered to by the personnel on his/her assigned shift.
  • Assist the shift supervisor in employee evaluations, training, and ongoing education for the Sterile Processing staff.
Requirements:
  • AA Degree or combination of education and experience with demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties required of a senior level assistant.
  • 3-5 years in a Sterile Processing environment.
  • 1-3 years Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Recent Management experience or demonstrated Management skills.
  • Recent experience in a Sterile Processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of surgical instrumentation and supplies, prior operating room experience.
