Job Title: Comprehensive Care Licensed Vocational Nurse

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Comprehensive Care Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at the Orange County Health Care Agency. As a Comprehensive Care Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a correctional setting, working closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and perform various nursing procedures as needed
  • Use electronic health records to accurately document patient data and administer medications
  • Prepare and collect lab specimens, including blood, urine, saliva, stool, and nasal/pharyngeal samples
  • Perform EKGs, visual acuity, vital signs, PPD placements, blood glucose testing, basic wound care, ambulatory clinic procedures, and screening exams
  • Recognize normal vs. abnormal findings and report such findings to on-duty registered nurses
  • Conduct and maintain inventory, adequate stock of medication, and supplies for assigned work areas
  • Maintain assigned work areas daily and ensure that work areas are inspection-ready at all times
  • Assist onsite and telemedicine/telepsychiatry providers
  • Participate in conferences, committee meetings, staff development, and education programs to increase or maintain professional competency
Requirements:
  • Valid Vocational Nurse License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians
  • Valid Phlebotomy or Blood Withdrawal Certification
  • Valid California Driver's License, Class C
  • Valid Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals Card-American Heart Association or approved equivalent provider
  • Recent acute care, correctional setting, and/or other similar institutional type experience
Working Conditions:

The Correctional Health Services (CHS) program is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation. Incumbents must be able to work days, weekends, evenings, or night shifts, and holidays. Nursing staff work six (6), twelve (12) hour shifts, and one eight (8) hour shift per two (2) week pay period. Days off are every other weekend and rotating week days.
