Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Boston Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the pharmacy team in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute pharmaceuticals, including Compounded Sterile Preparations (CSP), in accordance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Perform inventory control and compliance audits to ensure accurate and efficient medication management.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including answering phone calls, greeting patients and guests, and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist with medication preparation, including packaging, repacking, compounding, and bar-coding.
  • Deliver products to patient care areas, maintaining integrity, security, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain proficiency with technology, including automated dispensing machines, robotics, and barcoding systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
  • Participate in ongoing performance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or State accepted equivalency (GED) required; college training or technician training school diploma preferred.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy and national certification (CPT) from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT) within 6 months from start date.
  • 2-3 years' experience with at least one year pharmacy-related experience; 3+ years' experience preferred.
  • Strong math skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.
