The MEP Director plays a crucial role in leading McCarthy's MEP efforts from project pursuit to construction. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage project teams and collaborate with clients, designers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate preconstruction services with MEP trade partners, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
- Lead VDC coordination during the preconstruction phase and ensure accurate cost analysis and estimate coordination.
- Develop and review trade takeoffs, internal pricing, and subcontractor bidding strategies.
- Oversee the Exhibit 1 development process for MEP subcontractors and assist in the development of future MEP staff.
- Participate in interview preparation for negotiated bids and coordinate bid efforts, including RFI processing and interfacing with the bidding community.
- Review project documents to identify risk elements and develop scope-gap matrixes for coordination between MEP trades.
- Manage and define risks for the executive team and prepare clarifications and assumptions for listed scopes of work.
- Perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects and prepare management presentations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 10+ years of experience in MEP.
- In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices.
- Proven experience managing large-scale preconstruction efforts and leading successful team ventures.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients.
- Proficiency in Virtual Design and Construction software programs.
