About the Position

The University of South Carolina is seeking a highly qualified Classical Ballet Instructor to join its faculty. As a member of the Betsy Blackmon Dance Program, this instructor will be responsible for teaching all levels of classical ballet technique and pointe technique.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach classical ballet technique and pointe technique to students of all levels
  • Choreograph for departmental concerts and mentor student choreography showcase performances
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • MFA in Dance or commensurate professional experience
  • One or more years of experience teaching at a college or university level
  • Professional dance experience and/or experience choreographing at the collegiate or professional level
  • A strong record of creative and/or scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
