About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Architect to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. As an Assistant Vice President, you will be responsible for leading transportation projects and collaborating with our Southern California Transportation Facilities Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate architectural components of transportation projects, including small, mid-size, and large-scale projects.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of concept, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Provide quality control reviews and quality assurance for transportation projects.
  • Manage and direct projects' architectural group staff and assist in confirming project budgets are maintained and financial goals achieved.
  • Monitor and mentor junior staff in their professional development.
  • Responsible for the technical quality and coordination of architectural work and conformance with the Project Implementation Plan/Project Quality Control Plan (PIP/PQCP).
  • Assist with business development and support project presentations to clients, public and private stakeholders, and public agencies.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the learned discipline.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification in California.
  • Highly proficient with architectural principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Highly proficient with extensive experience in building planning, drawing standards, design, and program/construction management.
  • Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of architectural principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons and illustrations to the appropriate regulations.
  • Transportation project experience, including commuter, light rail, high-speed rail, automated people mover, bus rapid transit projects, and transportation vehicle maintenance facilities.
  • Proficient in building code, zoning, planning regulations, and other standards (including accessibility and CalGreen).
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software, technology, math principles, graphics, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of applicable experience post-licensure.
  • Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 130.
  • LEED AP (Accredited Professional).
  • An ability and/or interest in writing and coordinating specifications; experience with SpecLink and/or MasterSpec.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation.
  • Functioning experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Maya, and/or 3DS.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $133,400 - $226,900

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
