Job Description

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer II (Electronics Packaging) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing components, subassemblies, and assemblies for Kearfott GND products to meet internal and customer technical requirements.

The Mechanical Design Engineer II (Electronics Packaging) will work closely with other disciplines of the Engineering Department, including Systems, Electrical, Test, Software, Project Engineers, Program Managers, QA, Production, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities
  • Support project teams in designing 3D and 2D mechanical components using SolidWorks CAD
  • Design 3D and 2D electromechanical assemblies using SolidWorks CAD
  • Design ruggedized electronics and electronics enclosures
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Generate Bills of Materials
  • Select materials and processes in accordance with technical specifications requirements
  • Perform stress analysis using FEA techniques (Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation)
  • Manage configuration in SW PDM environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure mechanical requirements are fully understood and implemented
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of design experience
  • Aerospace - Defense background preferred
  • Experience with manufacturing processes
  • Experience with 3D printing technology
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, Finite Element Analysis, and Microsoft Office
  • Configuration management of engineering documentation
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • PDM design environment strongly preferred
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design of electronics packaging preferably in aerospace or defense industry
  • Knowledge of IPC, WHMA, specifications for Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), wiring harnesses, and soldering
  • Experience/proficiency in Altium required
  • SiliconExpert knowledge/experience is a plus
  • Strong communication abilities and interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available
