Position Overview
As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for executing mechanical repairs and adjustments on heavy industrial machinery, including fans, pumps, gear drives, and compressors. Your role will involve troubleshooting equipment to ensure optimal performance and conducting repairs as necessary.
In this position, you will actively support the safety, environmental, and quality objectives of the organization. You will be a key member of the Maintenance department, reporting directly to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. The starting hourly pay rate for this full-time position is competitive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize hand tools effectively, including drill presses, band saws, welders, and precision measuring instruments.
- Rebuild, repair, and install various types of rotary equipment such as pumps, fans, valves, and filters.
- Maintain knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to assigned tasks.
- Comply with safety regulations, including the use of respirators when required.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Interpret and work from blueprints for repairs and fabrication.
- Participate in the call-out program and be available for overtime as needed.
- Work swing shifts as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's Degree from a Junior College is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Mechanical Technician is preferred.
- Achieve a score of 75 or higher on the maintenance skills assessment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from heights, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- A solid understanding of general maintenance processes and methodologies.
