MRI Imaging Specialist

The Springfield Clinic is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join their team. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality MRI scans and assisting physicians in the selection of practical applications and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must be certified as an MRI technologist or willing to sign an agreement to attend formal classes, obtain clinical experience, and pass the MRI certifying examination.
- Produce high-quality MRI scans and anticipate when additional imaging may be needed.
- Have a good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Be familiar with the capabilities of the computer/scanner.
- Identify pathology and provide radiologists with additional images as needed to provide all relevant information.
- Operate a dry laser printer.
- Prepare the MRI for radiologists to read.
- Obtain outside previous or comparison exams.
- Familiar with pressure injector and contract agent doses.
- Familiar with quench policy procedures.
- Familiar with contract materials and possible reactions.
- Obtain complete patient histories.
- Keep a log of all patients.
- Familiar with all aspects of magnetic safety.
- Help out in the main department when time allows.
- Must be able to adapt to flexible working hours.
- Use computers and telephones as required.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to the SC Way customer service philosophy.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an approved A.C.R. school.
- Must be registered and in good standing in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in magnetic resonance within one year of hire.
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be proficient in venipuncture.
- Must maintain professional behavior.
- Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.
- Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
- Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboards and handle equipment and appliances.
- Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting, and twisting.
- Must be able to work with arms above the head.
- Must be able to wear a lead apron for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to assist patients to and from the MRI unit.
Working Environment:
- Will be exposed to fumes from cleaning agents or x-ray film processor chemicals in limited areas.
- Will be exposed to conditions including exposure to blood and bodily fluids, tissue, contagious diseases, and/or potentially hazardous materials.
- Occasional heavy lifting required.
