Job Overview

Summit Design and Engineering Services is a multi-disciplined firm headquartered in Hillsborough, NC, delivering innovative solutions to clients while supporting local communities.

We're seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our team in Hillsborough, NC. This role will involve developing and managing civil projects, including client-facing interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate projects with minimal supervision
  • Participate in preparing proposals, reviewing costs, and time schedules
  • Effectively manage and assign duties to team members, ensuring accuracy and quality
  • Communicate with clients regularly to provide project updates and exceed expectations
  • Recommend changes to clients as required, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Supervise Civil Designers, ensuring efficient use of time and resources
  • Assist in reviewing and processing invoices for assigned projects and sub-consultants
  • Contribute to business development by maintaining client relationships and acquiring new contacts
Requirements
  • BSCE and Professional Licensure or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months
  • 4+ years of experience in site design projects, retail, commercial, and public sector projects
  • Specific design experience in site layout, grading, storm drainage, stormwater management, water & sewer utilities, and erosion control
  • Familiarity with entitlement processes and local permitting regulations
  • Experience with technical software, including Autodesk Civil 3D, Hydraflow, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective collaboration, and adaptability
