About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Counselor to join our team at The Edinburg Center. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, brain injury, and autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate observations and assessments of individuals' behaviors and treatment progress, incorporating this information into treatment planning.
  • Model interpersonal skills, facilitating communications, giving direct and appropriate feedback, and assisting in relationship building.
  • Provide community awareness instruction, including use of community resources and facilities, throughout the program.
  • Assist and advocate for individuals in interactions with other service agencies, as needed.
  • Participate in groups and provide crisis intervention as needed, consistent with the individual's treatment plan and Center policies.
  • Ensure first aid and emergency assistance, as necessary.
  • Facilitate meetings and group interactions, and alternate with other staff in transporting clients in the van for activities.
  • Keep clinical records complete, accurate, and up-to-date, including incident reports.
  • Manage kitchen equipment repairs, inspections, and purchases, and maintain inspections records for the kitchen.
  • Conduct and maintain records of fire drills and safety procedures, and ensure kitchen site security and cleanliness.
