Role Summary

MNS is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to act as the Owner's professional representative on bridge and roadway construction initiatives, ensuring compliance with contract specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with technical field inspectors and project teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Conducts various construction engineering tasks, particularly related to roadways and bridges.
  • Oversees project Quality Control and Assurance processes.
  • Manages both professional and technical personnel along with contract administration.
  • Reviews change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying documentation.
  • Facilitates weekly project meetings and manages utility coordination.
  • Coordinates materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and payment requests.
  • Ensures compliance with EEO/labor regulations for the project.
  • Prepares progress and final documentation to align with State and Federal Highway Administration standards.
  • Handles major projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity.
  • Prepares and reviews comprehensive project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Acts as a technical specialist or advisor to upper management and staff.
  • Supervises all necessary personnel to complete assignments and is accountable for project profitability.
  • Maintains project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Drafts proposals for professional services under the guidance of a Principal Construction Manager.
  • Addresses issues arising from inspections or contract administration.
  • Assists in recruitment and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Serves as the primary contact for clients and approving agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is mandatory.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Minimum Experience Required
  • 5+ years of experience in construction contract management related to roadway and/or bridge projects.
  • Familiarity with CALTRANS and local agency projects, along with document coordination on federally funded projects, is preferred.
Other Required Skills
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with other staff members.
  • Represents the organization in communications and conferences regarding broad engineering assignments.
  • Capable of negotiating change orders effectively.
  • Demonstrates effective people management skills.
