About the Position

This is a Military Technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Knox East located in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricates, lays out, forms, and installs various metal surfaces and structural members for aircraft.
  • Examines aircraft flying surfaces and supporting sheet metal structures to determine the extent of repair using applicable technical manuals.
  • Removes damaged aircraft structural members and installs replacement members, including beams and formers.
  • Plans and lays out work using applicable work practices for repair and modification of aircraft metal parts and components.
Requirements
  • Active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set.
  • Ability to do the work of a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) without more than normal supervision.
  • Assisting with plans and lay outs of work, helping to determine repair work needed, operating various shop equipment, and helping to cut, bend, and form metal parts.
Working Conditions

Works in well-lighted but noisy shop and outside subject to heat, cold, and inclement weather. There is continuous exposure to disagreeable odors, smoke, and fumes. Wears protective masks, aprons, and goggles. There are dangers of cuts, falls, burns, and injuries from hand and power tools.
