REQUIREMENTS:
  • A bachelor's degree is required, along with possession or eligibility for a Maryland educator certificate (Social Studies 7-12, History 7-12).
  • Proficient understanding of contemporary teaching methodologies and curriculum design.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts classes at designated times and locations.
  • Develops a tailored curriculum that addresses the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Establishes a learning environment that is supportive and appropriate for the developmental levels of students.
  • Prepares adequately for assigned classes and provides documentation of preparation when requested.
  • Encourages students to uphold and adhere to established standards of behavior in the classroom.
  • Directs the learning process to achieve curriculum objectives and clearly communicates these goals to students.
  • Strives to embody the educational philosophy and instructional goals of the district through teaching practices.
  • Regularly evaluates student performance and provides necessary progress reports.
  • Keeps accurate and comprehensive records as mandated by law and district policy.
  • Assists in enforcing all policies and regulations governing student conduct and develops fair classroom management strategies.
  • Commits to ongoing professional development and improvement.
  • Participates in staff meetings and committee work as required.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Compensation & Work Schedule: This is a 10-month position requiring a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Salary placement will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and skills, in accordance with the Caroline County Board of Education Teacher Salary Scale.
