Marine Vessel Woodworker Position

We are seeking a skilled Marine Vessel Woodworker to join our team at Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. This role involves working on marine vessels, cutting, fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing wood structures and furnishings onboard ships.
Key Responsibilities:- Attend work regularly and be flexible with work hours
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations
- Repair and replace parts using hand and power tools
- Construct various wood components for ships
- Measure, cut, shape, and laminate wood materials
- Install ladders, handrails, and sound dampening materials
- Prepare blocking material for vessel support
- Rig and flag cranes for material movement
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Perform other assigned duties
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of carpentry experience. Knowledge of shipbuilding materials, methods, and tools. Familiarity with ship terminology, safety, and OSHA regulations.
Skills: Ability to read blueprints, operate hand and power tools, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Strong attention to detail, safety consciousness, and ability to multitask.
Behavioral Attributes: Integrity, ethics, adaptability, initiative, and good interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands:This role involves active physical work including standing, walking, bending, lifting heavy objects, and working in various positions. Vision abilities and physical fitness are essential, including the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with protective equipment.
Work Environment:The work environment includes exposure to various hazards typical of a shipyard such as electrical shock, loud noise, chemicals, and more. Strict adherence to safety protocols and equipment is mandatory.
