Exercise Physiologist

The Rivers Edge Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team in the Live Well Fitness Center and Cardiac Rehab department. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for implementing and supervising physical exercise programs for cardiac rehabilitation patients and fitness center members. Your expertise will be essential in creating individualized exercise programs, educating patients on risk factors and lifestyle changes, and maintaining accurate participant records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with participants to obtain vital signs, medical history, and oxygen saturation levels to evaluate their suitability for the cardio health program and fitness center.
- Develop and implement individualized exercise programs for cardiac rehabilitation patients, focusing on physical exercise and monitoring participants for inappropriate responses.
- Take manual blood pressures, pre, post, and during exercise, and analyze and interpret rhythm strips to ensure patient safety.
- Educate patients on risk factors and lifestyle changes to promote overall health and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential participant records in accordance with accepted standards, such as DNV, Medicare, and HIPAA.
- Review and report participant progress and problems to hospitalists and referring physicians.
- Identify emergencies or health concerns that require additional medical attention and communicate with a team of providers to establish best care.
- Explain fitness center programs to participants, including costs, hours of operation, and conduct.
- Write initial and follow-up exercise programs for participants, specifying equipment and exercises.
- Conduct individual and group aerobic, strength, flexibility, and Parkinson's Disease-based classes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of correct exercise techniques and form to ensure participant safety.
- Orient participants to fitness center policies and equipment.
- Assist with behavior modification classes, such as stress management, weight control, and related subjects.
- Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS (American Heart Association).
- Ability to analyze and interpret cardiac rhythms strips and cardiac monitoring strips.
- Ability to take manual vital signs.
- CCRP certification preferred, required within one year of hire.
This is a.7 FTE position with flexible, daytime hours, no weekends or holidays. Compensation details include an hourly wage and PId eb.
