Job Title: Associate Director of Clinical Research Informatics, Mobile Health

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Clinical Research Informatics to lead our efforts in device-based data acquisition and integration for clinical studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the institutional point of contact for investigators needing device-based data acquisition on clinical studies
  • Draft software requirements for selection or development of devices for studies
  • Manage software development, usability testing, implementation, and evaluation of Health applications for clinical studies
  • Work with the Epic team for integration in local care settings
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Health Level Seven (HL7) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) family of standards
  • Advise investigators, study teams, and research infrastructure teams on research data standards selection and implementation
  • Support and potentially serve as Program Director or co-Investigator on NIH grants, contract, and other informatics projects involving complex device, data integration, or standards implementation
  • Manage implementation of real-time HL7 FHIR-based data acquisition for the institutional data warehouse from partners such as the University Health System and HASA
  • Manage the Clinical Research Informatics Specialist group, including hiring, training, assigning, and overseeing the work of Clinical Research Informatics Specialists and the Research Data Navigator role
Requirements:
  • Senior informaticist with broad clinical research informatics experience and a deep specialization in data collection from mobile devices
  • Significant track-record in clinical research data management and may be called upon to oversee Data Management operations on large or complex studies
  • Ability to pursue applied and basic research questions and opportunities that arise from operations
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work with investigators, study teams, and research infrastructure teams
