Job Summary:

R & D Technician provides support to the Chemists / Engineers in the research and development process leading to the creation of OEM coating products. This role involves synthesis of polymers and resins using lab glassware and pilot units, preparation of pigment dispersion, and evaluation of coating formulations. The successful candidate will accurately run and record test results, interpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems, and document experimental test results using computer programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Synthesis of polymers and resins using lab glassware and pilot units
• Preparation of pigment dispersion
• Evaluation of coating formulations
• Accurately running and recording test results
• Interpretation and communication of test results using computer-based systems
• Documentation of experimental test results using computer programs

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree
• Ability to safely handle, categorize and dispose of chemicals
• Ability to safely load, test, filter and transport small batch materials in a plant environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers, and other Client personnel
• Ability to work well with supervisor and a variety of R&D, manufacturing, and marketing people in a team environment

Working Conditions:

The R & D Technician will work in a laboratory environment and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary. The successful candidate will be required to travel as needed to an internal/external customer location for meetings, training, and product support activities.
