Angels at Home is seeking dedicated caregivers who appreciate flexible work hours and can easily adapt to the needs of clients.

Qualifications

A personal care worker must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be trained in providing personal care services and possess skills relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Must provide documentation of necessary training for record-keeping.
  • Must not be a legally responsible relative of the client.
  • Must have the education, experience, and capability to meet job requirements.
  • Must have at least 6 months of experience as a caregiver, with a willingness to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Deliver services to individuals in their homes and communities who require assistance due to aging, illness, disability, or other conditions. Personal care may involve support with daily living activities, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, and respite care.

The personal care worker will undertake the following duties:

  • Execute tasks as directed by the RN supervisor.
  • Document each assignment in writing for the RN supervisor.
  • Promptly report any significant changes in the client's condition to the RN supervisor.
  • Engage with the RN supervisor regarding the client's progress as needed.
  • Implement infection control measures as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It is essential to ensure that services are delivered with care and respect, adhering to relevant agency policies and industry standards.

The personal care worker will be assigned specific clients by the supervising RN to perform designated tasks for which they have received training. The RN will ensure that the personal care worker is adequately trained for these specific responsibilities. The personal care worker is restricted to performing only those tasks assigned for each client and for which they have been specifically trained.

Covered Personal Care Services Include:

  • Assistance with bathing
  • Support with mobility and ambulation, including the use of walkers, canes, or crutches
  • Care for teeth, mouth, dentures, and hair
  • Changing bed linens and laundering personal clothing
  • Skin care, excluding wound care
  • Assistance with dressing and undressing
  • Toileting assistance, including the use of bedpans and commodes
  • Light cleaning in essential areas during personal care activities
  • Meal preparation and serving
  • Simple transfers, such as from bed to chair or wheelchair
  • Accompanying clients to medical appointments
