Job Responsibilities:
  • Medication Management: Distribute medications to patients in the correct doses, recording administration times in charts to ensure accuracy.
  • Patient Monitoring: Take and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, noting any undesirable signs and reporting them to other medical staff members.
  • Daily Rounds: Perform daily rounds to monitor patient morale and progress, converse with patients to gauge comfort levels, track changes, and report patient status to supervisors.
  • Medical Records: Monitor medical records to ensure regular doctor and dental visits are scheduled.
  • Emergency Care: Provide emergency medical care as needed and ensure that emergency medical supply kits are properly stocked.
  • Specimen Collection: Collect laboratory specimens and assist direct care staff in the collection of routine stool specimens, sputum, etc.
  • Behavioral Abnormalities: Refer immediately to the RN when behavioral abnormalities or side effects are observed.
  • Family Consultation: Consult with family members as needed.
  • Infection Control: Ensure infection control policies and procedures are followed.
  • Physician Consultation: Regularly consult with the physician regarding medications, illnesses, and routine medical care.
  • Documentation: Complete all required documentation.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Registered Nurse degree.
  • License: Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Employment Requirements: Must meet conditional employment requirements.
  • Certification: CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Psychiatric nursing experience.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Skills: Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Communication: Outgoing and patient with superior communication skills.
