Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at East Alabama Mental Health Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the well-being of our consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to patients in accordance with their treatment plans and record administration times in patient charts.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, and report any abnormalities to other medical staff members.
  • Perform daily rounds to assess patient morale and progress, and converse with patients to gauge their comfort levels and track changes in their status.
  • Review medical records to ensure that regular doctor and dental visits are scheduled.
  • Provide emergency medical care as needed and ensure that emergency medical supply kits are properly stocked.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and assist direct care staff in the collection of routine stool specimens, sputum, etc.
  • Refer patients with behavioral abnormalities or side effects to the RN for immediate attention.
  • Consult with family members to ensure that they are informed and involved in their loved one's care.
  • Ensure that infection control policies and procedures are followed.
  • Consult with the physician regarding medications, illnesses, and routine medical care.
  • Ensure that doctor orders are followed and complete all required documentation.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must meet conditional employment requirements.
  • CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Outgoing and patient with superior communication skills.
