We are seeking a skilled Preventative Maintenance Trades Specialist to join our team at West Virginia University. As a key member of our Facilities Management unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on equipment, including air handling units, fan coil units, VAV and mixing boxes, pumps, motors, electrical components, and more.
- Operate and test generators to ensure safe and reliable operation during power outages.
- Maintain safe standards and working conditions, adhering to state, local, and federal requirements.
- Coordinate with building supervisors and Facilities Management to facilitate shutdowns and scheduled outages.
- Erect working platforms, including scaffolding, ladders, and aerial work platforms, and operate various types of motorized equipment.
- Requisition parts, supplies, and equipment from Warehouse and vendors, ensuring timely delivery and sequencing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, performing other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma plus up to 18 months of technical or vocational training in Preventive Maintenance, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, General Trades, or equivalent work-related experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience in Preventive Maintenance, including experience in four or more of the following areas: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, or other craft trades.
- Ability to read blueprints, operate a computer, and follow OSHA guidelines and associated codes.
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, parts, and materials related to building maintenance trades.
- Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards, read and write in English, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to distinguish colors, rapidly learn policies and procedures, and maintain a current valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate a state vehicle, climb ladders, and lift materials over 75 pounds.
